Motivation and Creativity

Remember in a post awhile back I talked about creativity as a source of motivation? Well, today my 20 yr. old made her first diaper cake and baby shower favors! It all turned out soooo nice! Finding the materials was fun even though we had to go back and forth to stores. We don't have much here on Maui. Everything's on Oahu! The theme for the diaper cake is "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too...It's never too early to read to your bundle." She purchased a set of Winnie the Pooh first readers which created the title of her cake. Try it some time. When your stuck and you just can't get motivated to do your business...take a little break and make something. There are tons of sites that have fun and easy craft ideas. One of my favorites is Craft Ideas. She works hard to make available different craft projects for every season but it is for personal use only. When you do take time out for creativity really free your mind from the business because your focus is solely on creating something and having fun! Creativity is also very healing. Another aspect of creativity that I like is gardening. I've started a garden in my yard and have herbs, ti leaves, ferns, and strawberry plants. In fact my 2 children just ran in shouting "Mom, we have a red strawberry on our plant!" This will be a later post but for now I want to post some pictures of my daughter's diaper cake!

The books are nestled in the layers. See Tigger hanging on! The bottom is a growth chart made of cloth. The middle layer is a beautiful soft blanket with a Tigger applique and the top layer is wrapped with a towel. See how she exposed the applique of the towel? Very creative and I'm really proud of her! This is the back side of the diaper cake. These are the booties favors she made. They're stuffed with kisses candy wrapped in tulle tied with blue curling ribbon.
